The Park

We made not one, but two trips to the park today. Calvin kept asking to go and I had nothing better to do. Well nothing else I wanted to do anyway. When we first get to the park we have to spend at least 20 minutes on the swings before we can even talk about doing anything else. Calvin likes to be pushed but he doesn't want to go high or fast. So I push him high and fast but tell him he isn't going high sand fast. This method seems to be the only way to appease him.
Look at those skinny little legs!

Cordelia was eating a teddy graham while she was swinging. It is never the wrong time for a teddy graham.
Calvin has recently discovered the "spinning slide". After the swings this is pretty much all we do. He is quite creative in the ways he finds to go down it.

I wish I had a video of him crossing this bouncy bridge. I think prancing is the only way to describe it.
"Hmmm. Which shall I eat first?"
Cordelia prefers to walk around the park sampling the various barks, mulches, leaves, and grass. Lovely.

This is Cordelia watching the little friend she made leave. She was not happy. He was a sweet little boy and he kept giving her hugs.
Calvin has also recently discovered all the fun things to climb. This one almost gave me a heart attack but he made it with a little help.

Favorite Things Friday

Well it's that time again!

1. Calvin can buckle his own seatbelt now in his carseat. This newfound ability makes loading the kids into the car so much easier. He is so proud of himself too. He always wants a high five after he finishes.

2. Wives of Westminster: a club for the wives of westminster students. Club makes us sound so exclusive, we aren't. It has been wonderful to get to know some of the other moms and wives around here. We also have a rotating nursery schedule during wednesday chapels. Calvin and Cordelia love to go play with the other kids and I get a break.

3. Public Parks! What a great american past time. or something like that. I love to take the kids to the park and I love that it is free and they love it too as demonstrated in my previous post.

4. Our new church. We only had to go to one church to find one we love and we have instantly gained a new family. It is such a blessing to have a great church with great preaching and great people.

5. Too much stuff. I have been overwhelmed as of late with the sheer volume of clothes and toys we possess and the lack of space to store it all. On this, favorite things Friday, I choose instead to be thankful that we have been blessed so much to have so many nice things.

6. Ally! Happy 20th Birthday (yesterday) to my fabulous sister in love Ally! Ally is such a warm and funny person, I always have so much fun with her. And she helps me stay cool and hip to what the kids are into. Not only did I get a great man, I got a great family with him.

7. Cell Phones. Ahh what a beautiful invention, to call the ones I love wherever I am for a low monthly rate. I love that I can talk to my mom everyday; she is such an encouragement to me. I just love talking on the phone, so call me !

8. I have been struck this week by the certainty of God's promises. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will provide for us. He will do all things for our good and His glory. These are glorious promises to remember when I can't sleep at night.

9. My GPS! I don't think I could survive in the big city without it, or rather the suburb of the big city that we live in. I am finally beginning to go out without using it every time. But it has been a life saver more than once for me.

10. Cordelia is sleeping in her own bed!!! For those of you who were unaware Cordelia has been sleeping with us on and off, mostly on, since birth. This week I finally gave her the boot. The transition hasn't been seamless but the crying jags only last about 5 minutes and the neighbors aren't bothered a bit. She has gone one night without waking up but then last night she did again. What a wonderful feeling to roll over in bad or adjust the blanket without having to check where she is.
On another note, I forgot to add this video to the last post, so I will put it here. Cordelia is growing up too fast!

Happy Friday Everyone, Have a great weekend!

Chuck E. Cheese

Chuck E. Cheese, on a Saturday night, with 2 toddlers, am I crazy? I just may be. My ears are still ringing I must admit but the fun we had was worth it. Calvin loves Chuck E. Cheese, but what kid doesn't. Sometimes Calvin thinks it is funny to pretend to be asleep in the car. I think he really was asleep at first but then when he heard us laughing he didn't open eyes. He is definitely not asleep here. What a goof ball.
Riding with Chuck E., Note Calvin's little hand holding Cordelia.

This is Calivn's favorite game. He is terrible at it, but at least he has fun.

This ride swung back and forth extra slow.

"Say Cheese!"
Calvin loved playing air hockey. I couldn't get him to stop using his hands but at least he had fun. We'll worry about the rules later.

Riding the bus.
Cordelia liked to hit the buttons too.

Calvin likes to play the basketball game. He can't reach to throw it over the net so we just let him stand in the game. He didn't make a single shot but he had fun.

Calvin loved riding the horse. He rode it at least 5 times. The game was actually a race. While we were getting ready for bed, he told me all about the other horses and what colors they were.

Check out the sweet glasses he got with his tickets.

I hope you had a fun Saturday night too!

Cordelia's Favorite Doll

Cordelia got this doll for Christmas from Mimi and Pop Pop. She used to just lay next to her and suck on her head.

Now...

Now she carries her around everywhere she goes and slams her around. And she loves to just sit and look at her. I love watching her grow and start interacting with her toys more.

High Five

Favorite Things Friday with Pictures

I haven't posted much this week so I am going to use some pictures from the past week while describing my favorite things. In no particular order.
1. Rita's. Man is that juicy pear italian ice good. I could eat it every day.
Cordelia loves it too.
2. Watching Cordelia eat spaghetti. So messy and so cute.
3. The fact that Cordelia eats spaghetti. Calvin is relentlessly picky but Cordelia eats everything.

4. I love dressing Cordelia up. Calvin is fun to dress too but there is something about little dresses and tutus and bows that makes me smile.
5. Learning how to make new things. I made mac and cheese twice this week. It was really good and my sauce was very creamy if I do say so myself. Cordelia liked it so much she had to make sure no one would get the bowl from her. Calvin wouldn't eat it. What am I going to do with him?! No don't answer that, I don't want to talk about it. He went to bed that night without dinner because he refused to eat it.

6. Pinterest.com! Today we ate buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwiches that I found on Pinterest and they were fantastic. The more I use it the more I like it. You should join! I don't know what that has to do with this picture. She's cute though, right?!
7. Calvin's smile! The terrible twos are in full effect at our house. Calvin has been very defiant and at times aggressive lately. I pray that God will grant me patience and wisdom. But in all the tantrums I treasure these beautiful smiles. I tell Calvin every night that he is the best, most wonderful boy in the whole wide world and I mean it.
8. Cordelia's smile is pretty great too.
9. I love fall. I bought the stuff to make an apple pie today. I have been really into pies lately. My crust is getting really good. I need to get some cider.

10. Watching Calvin and Cordelia play together is so precious. I came out of the kitchen tonight to see them sitting on the floor holding hands watching "The Incredibles", of course by the time I got the camera the moment was passed. We have good days and not as good days with sharing and such but they love to play together and Calvin will not read books at bed/nap time without Cordelia there. They follow each other from room to room too.

This one really is a kiss :)
These are a few of my favorite things from this week. I feel like I did a lot of comparing of the kids. It is unavoidable to compare them but I want to make sure you all know that I don't play favorites. Cordelia pitches fits too. Calvin is sweet and kind too. My kids are both amazing and I love them both equally.
Okay enough seriousness. I hope you have a great blessed weekend!
